City officials are considering purchasing two surplus elementary school sites from the Redondo Beach City School District for construction of low- and moderate-cost housing for the elderly.
The City Council this week directed its staff to study purchasing the Andrews and McCandless schools, both of which have been offered for lease by the school district.
City officials are also evaluating a proposal to use the sites--as well as other surplus school sites--for recreational areas.
