Pasadena : Retail Center to Unveil Old Trolley Car
A newly restored 19th-Century trolley car will be unveiled at 5 p.m. today in front of City Hall to begin ground-breaking ceremonies for the Pasadena Marketplace, an ambitious downtown renovation project that will house 75 retail shops, a 150-room hotel, six movie theaters and an Irvine Ranch Farmers Market. The marketplace will cover a city block at Fair Oaks Avenue and Colorado Boulevard and is expected to open in December. Three trolley cars will serve the shopping center.
After the trolley’s unveiling today, there will be a parade from City Hall to 39 N. Raymond St., where a private charity fund-raiser will be held to launch the marketplace.
