Community College Softball : Silva Hits and Pitches Santa Ana Past Cypress
Pitcher Alani Silva drove in two runs and struck out four batters to lead the Santa Ana College softball team to a 3-1 win over Cypress in South Coast Conference action Wednesday at Cypress.
Silva, who improved her record to 15-1, drove in one run on a sacrifice fly in the first and doubled in a second run in the third. Sam Arledge was 2 for 3, including a triple and an RBI for the Dons (6-2 in the SCC and 27-2 overall).
In other South Coast Conference action:
Mt. San Antonio 3, Golden West 1--Pitcher Sheila Hopkins threw a one-hitter for the Mounties in the game at Golden West. Hopkins struck out two and walked two. The teams are tied for last place in conference with 3-5 records.
Fullerton 4, Orange Coast 0--Lisa Fresquesz pitched a three-hit shutout for the visiting Hornets (8-0, 23-4). She also had six strikeouts. Liz Carter was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Rose Muckenthaler was 3 for 4 with an RBI and triple to pace the Hornets’ 11-hit attack.
