SAN DIEGO
A small earthquake, centered about 40 miles south of San Diego, hit parts of south San Diego County, Imperial Beach and Coronado on Thursday night, but the tremor did nothing more than rattle china and nerves.
Riley Geary, a research assistant at Caltech’s seismological laboratory, said the quake measured 4.1 on the Richter scale and probably originated from a fault just off the Baja California coast. Although the Sheriff’s Department reported some calls from curious residents, there were no reports of damage or injury.
