Five mustard gas containers from World War II training exercises were unearthed at Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, about 300 feet from a similar find made two years ago. The discovery of the 4-ounce bottles was made by a construction company digging a trench for a storm drain. “The guys noticed a garlicky odor,” said foreman Lee Taylor. No workers were injured or suffered harmful effects, airport Director David Andrews said. U.S. Army toxic chemical experts said after the previous discovery that the ampules dated back to World War II, when the airfield was used as a chemical warfare training site.
