The number of near collisions in flight jumped sharply in the first three months of the year, the Federal Aviation Administration said in warning pilots to be more vigilant during the upcoming busy travel season. While most of the incidents involved only general aviation aircraft, the number of near-collision reports involving one--and in several cases two--commercial planes increased from 12 in the first quarter of 1984 to 21 in the first three months of this year.
