Hermosa Beach
The City Council on Tuesday agreed to hold a public hearing May 14 on a proposal to divide the city’s Police Department bargaining unit into two groups.
The proposal, which would group police captains and lieutenants in a separate bargaining unit from other police officers, would take effect after the city completes current contract negotiations with police representatives.
In a report to council members, City Manager Gregory T. Meyer said separate bargaining units were suggested by city officials during negotiations with the Hermosa Beach Police Officer’s Assn.
Wallace Moore, association president, said in a letter to Meyer that the bargaining unit supports the move.
