A suspected drunk driver struck and killed a tow truck operator, who had just changed a tire on a car along the shoulder of the northbound Long Beach Freeway near Slauson Avenue in Bell. Frank Enriquez, 33, of Highland Park died instantly when a car speeding and swerving in the slow lane clipped him as he tried to get back into his tow truck, Officer Ruben De Avila of the California Highway Patrol said. The hit-and-run driver, described as a heavyset white male, between 50 and 60 years old and wearing glasses, abandoned the car about a half-mile down the freeway and ran away.
