MCI lost its bid for a rehearing on a license.
The Federal Communications Commission’s refusal to reconsider the license award leaves the last remaining cellular telephone franchise for the Los Angeles region with Los Angeles Cellular Co. But MCI, which narrowly lost the hot competition, has taken the matter to the U.S. Court of Appeals. The only other cellular franchise was won by PacTel Mobile Access, which has offered mobile phone service in the region for the last 11 months.
