South African Price Rise Slows

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa —
The rise in South African consumer prices slowed last month, dipping from a 12-month increase of 16% in February to 15.1% in March, the government reported.
The Central Statistical Services Office said a 0.4% rise in prices from February was responsible for the first drop in the 12-month inflation rate in more than a year.
The rate had risen steadily since August, 1983, when the 12-month increase in prices registered 11.8%.
