A grounds maintenance worker at Mission Bay Park was seriously injured Wednesday morning when his clothing became entangled in the drive shaft of the lawn sweeper he was operating.
Charles Crowell was working in the Ski Beach area of the park when his pant leg got caught in the machinery, causing a compound fracture of his right leg. Crowell was flown via Life Flight helicopter to the trauma unit at UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was admitted in serious condition.
After surgery, Crowell’s condition was upgraded to satisfactory.
