Rio Hondo’s Top Athletes--Joe Berry, a sophomore basketball player who averaged almost 25 points a game, was named male athlete of the year at Rio Hondo College. Berry, who was the most valuable player in the Inland Valley Conference, will play at Cal State Bakersfield next season.
Michelle Carroll, a swimmer, was named female athlete of the year.
Polo All Star--Dana Burley of Whittier High School has been selected to a California All Stars water polo team that will compete Aug. 6-15 in West Germany. The team, under the direction of the International Sports Exchange, is made up of Southern California high school players.
