Rockwell International Corp. has donated nine pieces of equipment, including lathes, hones and grinders, to Santa Monica College’s manufacturing technology program.
According to Tom Hodges, the college’s manufacturing technology instructor, the equipment is worth $300,000. Two of the donated lathes will replace equipment that is more than 50 years old.
“We are especially pleased with the donation of the electrical discharge machine, the tool grinder and the bench lathe because they will provide new learning and training experiences,” said Herb Schlackman, dean of occupational education.
