The Region : Hearing in Belushi Death Rescheduled
A preliminary hearing for Cathy Evelyn Smith, accused of murder in the 1982 drug overdose death of comedian John Belushi, has been transferred to a new judge and rescheduled for Sept. 9. Los Angeles Municipal Judge Brian D. Crahan said he could not hear the case immediately because he is about to serve a two-month stint on the state Court of Appeal. He declared a mishearing in order to reassign the case to Judge James F. Nelson.
