Noise
A few years ago there was general interest in a noise-abatement program. The enactment of laws forbidding insufficiently muffled automobiles and motorcycles brought about a significant abatement. Now we are deluged in loud radio and stereo “music,” which many of us consider much worse than unmuffled engine noises.
Many persons leave their car radios blaring in the parking lots while they are shopping inside the markets. Others stop beside you at a red light and drown out your own conversation or news program. Others play their home stereos so loudly that you are disturbed even though you are a block away.
Is it not time that noise-abatement laws apply to excessively loud radios and stereos?
