San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana will miss today’s exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers at Candlestick Park because of an inflamed disk in his back.
Montana suffered the injury Monday night in the team’s 20-13 loss to the Denver Broncos.
“His injury is not a major one, but it is serious enough to keep him out of the game,” a 49er spokesman said. “At this time, Joe just needs a lot of rest.”
