Women’s Water Polo Action Underway in Irvine
Robin Dressel of Anaheim and teammate Michelle Henderson scored three goals each to lead the Hackers of Long Beach to an 11-3 win over Commerce Friday in first-round action of the U.S. Women’s Water Polo Championships at Heritage Aquatic Complex in Irvine.
In other action, Santa Ana defeated Newport, 13-8. Ruth Cox of Long Beach and Vaune Kadelubick of Las Vegas each scored four goals for Santa Ana. Stephani Munatones of Whittier scored three goals for Newport.
Play continues in the round-robin tournament today, starting with a 12:30 p.m. game between Santa Ana and Modesto. The Hackers will play Newport at 1:45. The Hackers and Santa Ana meet at 5.
