IBM settled a lawsuit brought by Elk Industries.
The company has paid a “substantial sum” to Elk in an out-of-court settlement of a patent infringement suit, Elk said. Elk had sued International Business Machines in U.S. District Court in Miami. The sum paid by IBM was not disclosed. Elk said IBM also had taken a non-exclusive license for rights to Elk’s audio storage and distribution technology involved in the disputed patent, as well as to Elk patent filings to be made over the next 18 months.
