Titan Soccer Team Wins Opener, 3-1

The Cal State Fullerton soccer team defeated Santa Clara, 3-1, Sunday night at the Fullerton Soccer Complex in the season opener for both teams.

After a scoreless first half, the Titans’ Lewis Garcia scored at the 66-minute mark. The Broncos’ John Nicholson tied the score at the 74-minute mark. But Fullerton’s Guilio Gnaulati scored a minute later to put the Titans ahead for good. Gary McKimmey scored the final goal with a minute remaining.

Fullerton goalkeeper Bobby Ammann had 12 saves.

The Titans open Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. play on Friday against the University of the Pacific at 7:30 p.m. at the Fullerton Soccer Complex.
