Greece Denies It Is Unsafe for Tourists
ATHENS — The Greek government defended itself Thursday against charges that Greece is unsafe for tourists.
“We are convinced that Greece is one of the safest countries and is in the best position to provide safety for tourists,” government spokesman Costas Laliotis said.
Laliotis made his comments in the wake of charges resulting from Tuesday’s grenade attack on a luxury seaside hotel in the suburb of Glyfada in which 18 British tourists were injured. Six of them are still in a hospital.
The incident was the second terrorist attack within a month on a hotel frequented by British tourists.
