Drilling Opposition Widens: Brea and Cypress recently joined other cities opposing plans to open the local coastline to offshore oil drilling. City Council members in both cities unanimously agreed last week to pass resolutions calling for the protection of the Orange County coastline. Other cities that have registered their protests to a drilling proposal are Newport Beach, San Clemente, Laguna Beach and the unincorporated community of Laguna Niguel.
