Furor Over Farrakhan

Some Jewish leaders and assorted liberals have been taken by surprise because of past complacency and slow reaction to developing malignancies in our midst. I’m referring to Louis Farrakhan, preacher of rhetoric, hate and threats, specifically against Jews. Farrakhan does not relate to the actual needs of the black people.

The real issues confronting the black community are the gang-related murders, drug dealing, lack of skills and education, and the pervasive hatred, hidden and obvious, toward white people, some of whom carry the burden of guilt because of past iniquities and injustice.

Farrakhan, the Father Coughlin of the 1980s, says that he wants to ameliorate the plight of the poor among the blacks, at the expense of white America, which he hates with a passion, but his fancy demagoguery thus far has only succeeded to exacerbate hate.

Mayor Bradley’s conflict with his Jewish constituency, demonstrable by his very feeble attempt to explain and justify his silence and “belated soft statement” on Farrakhan’s presence in our city, brings closer the end of his political career.
