Griswold’s Plans to Open $2-Million Dinner Theater
Candelight Pavilion, a $2-million dinner theater now under construction, is scheduled to open Oct. 4 at Griswold’s Claremont Center, 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont.
The opening production in the 399-seat theater will be a high-energy spectacular, “Jubilee!” based on America’s best loved music from the 1920s to the ‘80s. The artistic director/producer is Ben Bollinger.
The building was first erected in the 1930s as the Claremont High School gymnasium and was renovated in 1971 for use as a 500-seat banquet facility known to most simply as “The Pavilion.” The complex includes the 280-room Griswold’s Inn and the Indian Hill Restaurant, as well as extensive conference facilities.
A. L. Sanford, president of Griswold’s Claremont Center, said, “Our goal is to provide a fresh kind of family entertainment experience, where guests can be continually surprised by first-rate hospitality, first-rate dining and first-rate musical entertainment.”
