Young Women Tennis Players Gets Some Tips From Booklet

NEW YORK — As tennis players turn professional at younger ages each year, more steps are being taken to protect them from burnout and injuries.
The International Tennis Federation recently issued guidelines restricting the number of tournaments these youngsters could play, but this still won’t prevent 15 and 16-year-olds from competing in big money events in countries far from home.
To ease the transition for the younger girls joining the tour, the Women’s Tennis Assn. distributes a booklet called “Getting Started--A Guide to Playing Women’s Professional Tennis.”
Compiled by Lindsey Beaven, herself a former player, the pamphlet describes as its purpose to “help players make a smooth transition into professional tennis.”
