Local News in Brief : Minor Earthquake Jiggles East Valley
A small, brief earthquake centered northwest of Burbank rolled through much of eastern San Fernando Valley Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the Caltech Seismological Laboratory said.
Spokeswoman Nancy Durmand said no reports of damage were received, but that the 11:29 p.m. quake prompted calls from Sherman Oaks, Pacoima, Burbank and Sylmar.
Durmand said the earthquake measured 2.7 on the Richter scale and was centered five miles northwest of Burbank. She said the earthquake was the first “felt quake” to be centered in the Burbank area in about six months.
