United Press International
BOGOTA, Colombia —
A private bus driver trying to restart the vehicle’s engine sparked a gasoline fire, burning to death at least six people and injuring 21 others, police said Wednesday.
Police said the bus driver, Luis Enrique Ortiz, 32, was injured. Newspaper reports said he fled after the incident.
Samuel Andrade, who tried to save passengers, told the newspaper El Tiempo that the bus had run out of gasoline. He said the driver sent one of his sons to a gas station, and the child returned with a plastic bag full of fuel.
