Santa Ana : Officers on Task Force Arrest Robbery Suspects
Police officers who are part of the city’s new anti-crime task force foiled an attempted robbery of a postal worker by arresting two juvenile suspects, then later arrested two men in a car that matched the description of the robbery getaway vehicle, police said Thursday.
Eight and one-half ounces of cocaine, valued at $100,000, was found in the car, officers said.
The officers, who since Oct. 1 have supplemented regular police patrols, responded to a midday robbery Tuesday in the 2200 block of West Orchard Drive, where three suspects were demanding “money or narcotics” from a postal carrier, police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said.
A third suspect fled and was seen getting into a maroon, late-model automobile, she added.
About three hours later, two different patrolmen, also members of the new Swat Hypes (High Yield Police Enforcement Services), stopped a car matching the description of the getaway vehicle and arrested Oscar Cedallos Espinoza, 20, and Jacob Barajas Castellanos, 21, both of Santa Ana, Thomas said.
