Richard Jahnke, a teen-ager who shot his abusive father to death in a widely publicized case, has been discharged from a detention center and is living at home with his mother, his attorney said Thursday.

“He’s working a couple of part-time jobs, trying to get ready to enroll in classes at Laramie County Community College next semester,” attorney Louis Epps said.

Jahnke, now 19, spent a year at the Wyoming Boys School in Worland. He was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison, but Gov. Ed Herschler commuted the prison term to confinement and treatment at the state institution.
