Glendale Hoover High has been stripped of its eight football victories and a berth in the Coastal Conference playoffs for using an ineligible player, Southern Section officials announced Thursday.
The Tornadoes, whose record dropped from 8-2 to 0-10, will be replaced in the playoffs by Arcadia (5-5) after a 3-2 vote by Pacific League officials. Hoover abstained.
Arcadia, which held an impromptu practice Thursday, will travel to Simi Valley tonight at 7:30 for a first-round playoff game.
The discovery that Hoover was using an academically ineligible player was made by the school registrar Wednesday night in the process of filling out Southern Section playoff forms, according to Hoover Principal Don Duncan.
The name of the ineligible player was not released.
