‘Baby on Board’ Placards
Please indulge me and allow me to again respond to the “Child in Car” sign hoopla (Letters, Nov. 23). As I first indicated (Letters, Oct. 20), I display such a sign (in the left lower corner of the rear window) with great hope. What I’m hoping is that the sign will indicate to inconsiderate, unsafe, rude drivers to use care when I am driving with my only child in tow.
I appreciate all who responded with negative comments about the now ubiquitous sign. Some signs are displayed in the wrong place and the signs are not always an indication that a safe driver is behind the wheel. It seems to me that the people who took the time to respond to that “Child in Car” sign letters resent the signs because they are safe drivers and they take offense at the reminder to take care when driving.
To those safe drivers I say, “thanks.” I appreciate your efforts to make all of our driving experiences pleasant. To the Neanderthal drivers who heed no warning signs, much less an unobtrusive “Child in Car” sign, watch out. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more.
The defense rests.
