UCLA’s Soccer Coach Seeks 100th Victory
Soccer Coach Sigi Schmid of UCLA will be looking for his 100th career victory when the Bruins and Southern Methodist play in the NCAA quarterfinals at UCLA’s North Soccer Field Sunday at 2 p.m.
The winner will face the winner of the Penn State-Evansville, Ind., game, also scheduled Sunday, in the NCAA semifinals.
Schmid, in his sixth year as coach at the school he played for, has a 99-17-14 record. The Bruins are 17-1-4 this season, and SMU is 17-4-1. The Bruins advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Nevada Las Vegas, 1-0, last Sunday on Dale Ervine’s goal in overtime.
