Yorba Linda : City Pledges Funds to Gerontology Center
To help build Orange County’s first Gerontology Center, Yorba Linda this week became the fourth city in the county to contribute financially to the proposed Cal State Fullerton facility.
Yorba Linda officials agreed to match up to $4,000 in funds raised locally for the project. The fund-raising was spearheaded by the Continuing Learning Experience, an organization made up primarily of retired and semi-retired people.
Meanwhile, sponsors of the gerontology center have raised about $1.3 million toward the center’s expected cost of $1.7 million. Other contributors include the Orange County Board of Supervisors, with $50,000, and the cities of Fullerton, $25,000; Placentia, $10,000, and Brea, 1,000.
