Metropolitan Developing Office Park : Project Is First of Kind in San Diego for Insurance Firm
Work has begun on the $22-million Metropolitan Office Park in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego.
The two-building, 206,000-square-foot complex marks the first time that Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. has developed office space in San Diego.
Designed by the San Diego office of Ware & Malcomb Architects, the project will include a 72,000-square-foot, three-story building; a 134,000-square-foot, four-story building, and a two-level parking structure.
The complex is being built on a 5.8-acre site on Ruffin Road at Skypark Court just west of Interstate 15 and south of Balboa Avenue in the heart of the office and research-and-development parks just east of Montgomery Field.
Nielsen Construction Co. is building the park, and completion is scheduled in mid-1986. Coldwell Banker will be the leasing agent and manager.
