McDonald Houses Get Airline Grant
Southwest Airlines is giving $10,000 during December to Ronald McDonald Houses in the various cities served by the airlines. That’s about $200,000 systemwide. In addition, Southwest employees will be presenting the children at each house with a six-foot tall Christmas stocking filled with goodies and toys plus ornaments for the tree at each house.
In the 10 years that the Ronald McDonald Houses have been in operation as short-term residences for parents of children who are seriously ill, they’ve been used by more than 200,000 families. There are 88 such houses in the United States, Canada, Australia and Holland. Southwest employes have volunteered time at the houses for several years and this year, the airline adopted Ronald McDonald Houses as its primary charity.
