VIDEOCASSETTES
“U2--The Unforgettable Fire Collection.” U2. RCA/Columbia. $29.95. This Irish band is one of rock’s most exciting live attractions--and that excitement can transfer beautifully to video. U2’s 1984 “Under a Blood-Red Sky” captures splendidly singer Bono Hewson’s Springsteen-like connection with his audience. This new package contains a gripping live version of the deeply personal “Bad,” but the rest consists of moody, flat song clips and routine interview segments. The lesson is clear: Until it finds another way to document its richness on video, U2 should stick with live footage.
