Microsemi Reports Record Profits for Quarter, Year

Bucking the nationwide slump in semiconductor sales, Microsemi Corp. of Santa Ana posted record profits in both the final quarter and its 1985 fiscal year. For the quarter ended Sept. 29, the company reported profits of $1.1 million, 76% higher than the $627,000 recorded in the year-ago period. Sales for the quarter were $9.2 million, 7% above the $8.5 million posted the year before.

For the 1985 fiscal year, the company had profits of $4 million, up 48% from the $2.7 million posted the previous year. Sales were $34.6 million, a 14% jump from the $30.3 million recorded in 1984. The company attributed its best-ever performance to “strong new business” from aerospace and defense contractors.
