USIU Finishes Fifth, SDSU Ninth in Golf
Allison Shapcott and Laurette Maritz led U.S. International University to a tie for fifth place in the 54-hole USC-UCLA Desert Classic collegiate women’s golf tournament, which finished Friday at Indian Palms Country Club in Indio.
San Diego State, paced by Patty Liscia, placed ninth in the 10-team field.
USIU finished with a score of 958 to tie with UCLA. They were 39 strokes behind the champion, Arizona State. Pam Wright of ASU won the individual title with a one-over-par 220.
Shapcott finished tied for fourth, at 231, and Maritz was sixth, at 232. Liscia carded a 241 for 25th place.
