Commodore turned a quarterly profit, its chief said.
The computer maker said it expected the earnings--the first since 1984--to help persuade its bankers to renew loans on which Commodore International is in technical default. Thomas J. Rattigan, president of the West Chester, Pa.-based firm, would not disclose the size of the profit. Although holiday sales of its new Amiga computer were not as strong as hoped, the company had a “very good quarter worldwide,” Rattigan said.
