OCEANSIDE — A large, recently renovated building in downtown Oceanside burned Tuesday night, police Sgt. Fred Ritz said.
There were people working inside the Oceanside Ice Company building at 426 S. Cleveland when the fire broke out, Fire Chief Jim Rankin said, but no one was injured. He said the fire started in the central part of the building.
The building reportedly housed 300,000 bags of ice in storage and was insured for $2 million.
As of 11:15 p.m., the fire was contained, Rankin said.
No damage estimate was available Tuesday night.
