Hermosa Beach : Filing of Ballot Arguments
Arguments for and against an advisory proposition on offshore drilling must be filed with the city clerk’s office by 5 p.m. today to qualify for the April 8 ballot.
City Clerk Kathleen Reviczky said this week that the argument against oil drilling has been written by Councilman Gary Brutsch on behalf of the City Council. No one has submitted an argument in favor of oil drilling, she said. Ballot arguments must be written by voters registered in the city.
The advisory measure will ask voters if the federal government should be allowed to lease tracts in Santa Monica Bay for oil and gas exploration.
