Santa Monica : Civic Art Projects Sought
The Santa Monica Arts Commission is seeking new works for civic art projects, including a mural at a parking garage on 4th Street, outdoor sculptures at several city parks and a fiber art project at the Ocean Park Branch Library. Applicants should contact the commission at 458-8350 for further information.
The commission also is accepting applications for up to 50% of the cost of providing low-cost or free arts programs between May and September.
The commission has $8,000 available for projects under the Community Initiated Arts Program. The two-year-old program is financed by the city to encourage the public display of art.
Applications can be obtained from the commission at 215 Santa Monica Pier, on the top floor of the Santa Monica Carousel. They are due Feb. 3. The commission will make the selections in consultation with a review panel, said David Lutz, director of the commission.
