Dissenter Invited to Explain Action
The Times recently ran a column by “Dear Abby,” which relates the statement of an 11-year-old girl, Jill Turner, to the effect that, “Just because you are against something doesn’t give you the right to decide for everybody else!”
I would like to call this statement to the attention of the Downey resident who was so upset by the Nativity scene at the Downey City Hall that he felt it was necessary to file a complaint with the American Civil Liberties Union. I would like to challenge him to come out of his anonymous status and give his fellow Downey residents an explanation as to why he feels he has the right to deny them their enjoyment of a traditional Christmas display.
