USC Without Miller for Fullerton Game
The USC women’s basketball team, coming off Wednesday’s 83-81 overtime win over Ohio State at Columbus, will be without forward Cheryl Miller tonight when the fifth-ranked Trojans play Cal State Fullerton in a nonconference game in Titan Gym.
Miller, averaging 26.1 points and 12.4 rebounds a game, was poked in the eye during the Trojans’ 75-53 loss to fourth-ranked Louisiana Tech last Monday. Playing with racquetball goggles, she scored 27 points against the Buckeyes Wednesday, but her injured cornea required four stitches to repair Friday in Los Angeles.
Miller won’t even be at tonight’s game. She will be flying to New Orleans today to attend a dinner party in honor of this year’s Broderick Award winners. She is hoping to return for Thursday night’s game against Arizona.
USC (12-2) will rely on senior guard Cynthia Cooper, who is averaging 17.8 points a game, and freshman forward Cherie Nelson.
