Pacific Lighting, the parent of Southern California Gas, reported a 27% gain in fourth-quarter earnings to $57.3 million and said all units of its business were profitable. That brought Pacific Lighting’s full-year net income to $156 million, a 13% gain over 1984 earnings of $138.6 million, despite the previously announced $60-million write-off of its interest in a controversial coal gasification project. Pacific Lighting said operating income in the natural gas business climbed 8% last year to $452 million, oil and gas exploration increased 20% to $55.7 million, land development fell 11% to $56 million and the rest increased 75% to $49.6 million.
