S.C. to Get Domino Suspects
Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner announced today that a South Carolina couple accused in the December murders of a Domino’s Pizza deliveryman in Glendale will be returned to South Carolina to stand trial in the murder of two Domino’s employees there before they face trial here. The pair has pleaded innocent to the Glendale murder, a charge which carries the death penalty.
Reiner, noting that the cases of Mitchell Carlton Sims, 25, and Ruby Padgett, 20, could take more than four times as long to try in California as in South Carolina, said he would honor an extradition request from Gov. Richard W. Riley. Once their trials conclude in South Carolina, the two will be returned to Glendale to answer the charges here. The pair could still fight extradition to South Carolina.
