Horford Is Rejected by Kentucky
Kentucky basketball Coach Eddie Sutton told Tito Horford that he does not want the controversial center to play for the Wildcats, whose basketball program already is under NCAA investigation.
“We are flattered that he would consider UK,” Sutton said in a prepared statement, but added that it would be best if Horford enrolled elsewhere.
Horford was declared ineligible last year because the NCAA found recruiting violations at Houston. He later was dismissed from LSU for missing practice.
Sutton said he talked late Monday night with Horford’s attorney, Pat Ellis of Houston. The coach said he was told Horford wanted to enroll at the Southeastern Conference school.
“That was the first we had heard anything in that regard,” Sutton said. “However, my staff and I made the decision to call Mr. Ellis back and recommend that Tito enroll in another institution.”
