1 Killed as U.S. Copters Collide in W. Germany

MARKTREDWITZ, West Germany — Two U.S. military helicopters collided during preparations for NATO’s winter maneuvers today, killing one soldier and injuring four others on board, West German police said.
Three of the injured were hospitalized in Marktredwitz and the fourth was flown to a hospital in the larger city of Bayreuth, about 25 miles away.
