Katrin Gutensohn of Austria won the fifth World Cup downhill race of the season at Puy St. Vincent, France, and moved into first place in the downhill standings, ahead of Maria Walliser of Switzerland. Gutensohn skied the 1.52-mile course in 1 minute 31.17 seconds. Brigitte Oertli of Switzerland was second in 1:31.23.
