Man Slain, Officer Shot at Border
A man was slain and a Border Patrol officer was shot in Spring Canyon near the Mexican border late Tuesday night, a San Diego Police Department spokesman said.
Lt. Richard Bennett said the officer was wearing a bulletproof vest and “we believe he’s OK.” The shootings occurred about 10:30 p.m. near Dillons Trail and California 117, Bennett said.
A second man was taken into custody.
