Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson, Worthy Start for West
Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy of the Lakers have been voted to the starting team for the West in the 1986 NBA All-Star game Feb. 9 at Dallas.
Also named were Ralph Sampson of Houston at forward and Alvin Robertson of San Antonio at guard.
Johnson became the first player in the 12-year history of fan voting to receive more than a million votes. He got 1,060,892, breaking his own mark of 957,447.
Starting for the East will be Larry Bird of Boston and Julius Erving of Philadelphia at forwards, Moses Malone of Philadelphia at center, and Isiah Thomas of Detroit and Sidney Moncrief of Milwaukee at guards.
The coaches are Pat Riley of the Lakers for the West and K.C. Jones of the Boston Celtics for the East.
